Cash on Delivery or Bank Transfer? Paying Safely for Fabric Online in Pakistan

21 August 2026 · 6 min read

Most shoppers pick cash on delivery out of caution. Prepaid transfer is often cheaper — provided you check four things first.

Pakistani online retail still runs largely on cash on delivery, and for good reason: you see the parcel before any money changes hands. But COD is not free, and a verified bank transfer to a named account is often the better deal. Here is the honest comparison.

Why sellers discount prepaid orders

COD costs the seller money: courier collection charges, delayed settlement of two to four weeks, and a refusal rate on delivery. Prepaid orders remove all three, which is why many Pakistani stores — Market Waly included — pass part of that saving back as a discount on bank transfer and other prepaid methods.

Verify before you transfer

  1. 1.Check that the account title matches a real, named person or registered business, not a nickname.
  2. 2.Confirm the same account details appear on the website itself, not only in a chat message.
  3. 3.Look for a working phone number and a WhatsApp reply from that number before paying.
  4. 4.Read the return and refund policy, especially the window and who pays return shipping.
  5. 5.Keep the transfer screenshot and the order number together until the parcel arrives.
Never send a transfer to an account whose title you have not seen written on the seller's own website.

Red flags worth walking away from

  • Bank details shared only over DM and changed between messages.
  • Pressure to pay immediately for a 'last piece' with no order confirmation.
  • No written returns policy anywhere on the site.
  • An account title unrelated to the brand with no explanation.

At Market Waly both options are available: cash on delivery nationwide, or a bank transfer to Bank Alfalah or Meezan Bank in the account title shown on our checkout page, with 3% off prepaid orders. Share the receipt on WhatsApp and we confirm dispatch the same working day.

Frequently asked questions

Is cash on delivery safe in Pakistan?

It is the lowest-risk option for a first order because you pay only when the parcel reaches you. You still cannot usually inspect the contents before paying the rider, so buy from sellers with a written return policy.

Is it safe to bank transfer to an online shop?

It is safe when the account title is published on the seller's own site, matches a named person or business, and the shop has a reachable phone number and a stated refund policy. Keep your receipt until delivery.

Why do stores give a discount on prepaid orders?

Prepaid orders avoid courier cash-collection fees, delayed settlement and refused deliveries, so sellers share part of that saving with the customer.
